FAQs

  • Pride Deadlift Party is a multi-city queer strength event series and fundraiser. It’s part deadlift competition, part block party… built to celebrate queer, trans, and allied lifters while raising money for local LGBTQIA2+ organizations.

  • No. This is a community fundraising event; not a sanctioned competition. Pride Deadlift Party is organized and sponsored by Rain City Powerlifting Union, a charitable organization whose goal is to make powerlifting more inclusive and accessible. Expect structure, but also expect fun, chaos, and a lot of cheering.

  • Each city hosts its own Pride Deadlift Party with unique details (date, location, schedule). In general:

    • Lifting begins around midday

    • Lifters are split into multiple flights

    • Each lifter gets 3 attempts

    • Events typically run 4-5 hours

You’ll receive your flight time and event details in the weeks leading up to your specific event.

  • Lifters are grouped based on their submitted opener or estimated max (or by teams). We’ll send out a form ahead of time to collect this.

  • Absolutely. As strong as you are right now is enough.

We use a standard 20kg (45 lb) bar. If you can lift the bar, you can participate. This event is designed for both first-time lifters and experienced athletes.

  • Perfect. This is one of the most beginner-friendly meets you’ll find. Volunteers and staff will guide you through everything so you feel confident stepping onto the platform.

  • You’ll still get hype, photos, and community love. No one is leaving empty-handed.

  • Nope. No weigh-ins, no weight cuts. Just show up, lift, and have fun.

  • No straps are allowed unless medically necessary and approved ahead of time.

  • No. Shoes are required for safety. Flat, hard-soled shoes are recommended.

  • Whatever makes you feel strong and comfortable.

    • Flat shoes recommended

    • Something that protects your shins (socks, leggings, etc.)

    • Since this is a pride event, bright colors, rainbow attire, costumes, etc. are all extremely encouraged. Dress to impress but more importantly, to feel your best!

Just make sure you can deadlift safely.

  • After covering essential event costs (equipment, permits, performers, staffing, etc.), 100% of remaining proceeds are donated to local LGBTQIA2+ organizations in each city.

  • Our ask for participants who are lifting is to aim to fundraise 1 dollar per pound lifted. For example, someone who plans on lifting 200 lbs should aim to try to raise $200. If each person pledges to aim to raise this amount, we should be able to reach our collective goal.

Ask your friends and colleagues. Utilize those workplace giving programs! If everyone aims to do their part, we will be able to make 2026 our biggest fundraising year, yet!

  • Everyone… especially LGBTQIA2+ lifters.

Allies are welcome, but please remember: this is a queer-centered space. Be respectful, supportive, and aware of that.

  • Yes: with context.

This is a Pride event. There will be queer expression, costumes, and performances. We aim to keep things safe and appropriate, but if you’re concerned about your child being exposed to queer joy (or the occasional butt cheek), use your best judgment.

  • We are also looking for raffle donations, vendors, sponsors and volunteers. Please e-mail each event organizer directly for more information!

Otherwise, please considering sharing, donating, or coming to spectate! We would love to have you!
